Is recruiting based on attitude?

The role of the honest and experienced recruiter is to select the best candidate and his recommendation should be objective. But there are many recruiters who just see the academic qualifications and technical skills, not the attitude of the candidates. After these when the candidates with bad attitude got selected, they create a big damage to the organisation. Because, “Attitude alters the altitude”

For example, Employees working in a call center should have a good attitude, because that forms the base for the success to the company. Some employees are keen on not to miss their team meeting whereas the others on controversy not to miss their tea break. Some employees help their customers by walking an extra mile with them, while the others do not give any further assistance.

James Adonis, a researcher on this recruiting process says: recruiting a candidate is like “Finding a pot of gold at the end of the recruitment rainbow”

There are some tests to test the personal and technical skills of the candidates lie  such as OCEAN test & RIASEC test. Even there are tests to check the quantitative and qualitative aptitude of the candidates. To check the aptitude of the candidates, LMNOP attitude rainbow method can be used.

L – Learn

M- Motivate

N- Natural

O- Optimistic

P- Proactive

It is all about the right attitude.

Skills can be taught, qualifications can be achieved, technical skills can be trained, but it is very difficult to feed a good attitude to the employees.

Some questionnaires based on LMNOP attitude rainbow can be asked to check them.

Learn:

Only candidates who are ready to learn can be accepted in a company. A question can be asked like “Give me an example of about arriving through complex information and run me through an example of how you seek to learn it?"

Motivate:

Candidates with this element are easy to motivate and will be able to work at any situation. So, a question can be raised to check this.

“Give me an example of about working in a complex environment and how do you focus on work and be enthusiastic?"

Natural:

Employees need to be genuine, warm and friendly. They need to be able to get along with a diverse group of people.

“Give me an example about when you went out of your way to help your colleague”

Optimistic:

It is very necessary for all the employees in an organisation to be optimistic and work towards a complex goal in a positive manner. So this attitude must be checked definitely by asking this question.

“Give me an example about working in a negative environment”

Proactive:

The best people in any organisation are those that go extra mile for their employers, customers, their peers and also for themselves. So, to check this attitude, this question can be asked.

“Outline an example when you worked more than what is expected?”
