Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday that we
were all sitting in our undergraduate classrooms and chitchatting about what
would be our next move… Diverse answers indeed: Studying further to rattle
brains, A little work and earning our own bucks, Marriage and starting a family
etc
After that life went by in a flash: Writing
dime a dozen entrance exams, Attending interviews for this and for that, Breaking
our heads over our final year projects and the most difficult part – Bidding
farewell to the world we were so comfortable in.
We unwound and relaxed for a few months
staying at home spending some quality family time. Then it was time again for
another round of the game of life. We braced ourselves for what it would hold
and came here with high levels of anxiety. A new Environment: New rules to
follow, New people to move with and the worst of it: Not knowing what to
expect.
Acclimatization was a Herculean task:
Getting ready by 8.30 a.m was most painful for the first few days after lazing
around at home in bed till the sun basked our faces with its light. A full day
in class listening to lectures and then preparing for the next day was even
worse.
But, there was something more hard for us-
Setting in. Not knowing anyone, Shy to talk and wondering what was going
through the other person’s head. Slowing the ice melted away and then Smiles
became Acquaintances, Acquaintances became Friends, Friends
became Family.
From then on life was set in motion-
Attending classes, Grabbing a quick bite, Running back to prep for
presentations in the college block, Finding breaks in between to gossip and Crossing
the exam hurdles has become the life that we are now comfortable in.
Looking back, it seems a long way travelled
but the journey wasn’t felt. It’s been one hell of a crazy ride called: Change
or Transition or Maybe a little bit of both?
